Newport News Golf Club at Deer Run has a variety of practice areas centrally located to the Clubhouse.

• There is a bent grass putting green and a Bermuda grass chipping green available for practicing.
• The driving range has 25 stations that the golfer has the ability to hit off grass or mats. The range is over 320 yards deep with three target greens and marked yardages.
• The balls for the range are Pinnacle Range Balls, which are replaced with new balls every year.
• Also, a wonderful lesson area has shade and is removed from the public. This is the perfect area for private and group instruction in an uninhibited environment.
